According to the Ease of Moving Index-India Report 2022, Gurugram ranked eighth out of the country's twelve fastest-growing cities, which is good news for its residents. The report was released in Delhi by Shombi Sharp, the UN resident coordinator in India, and Kunal Kumar, joint secretary and mission director of the Smart Cities Mission. It was produced by the OMI Foundation, a think tank for policy research and social innovation. The study ranking has been divided into promising cities, emerging cities, booming cities, and megacities based on a survey that included replies from 50,488 respondents and 220 focus group discussion participants in addition to data from government and other sources. Along with Coimbatore, Guwahati, Ludhiana, Nashik, Varanasi, Raipur-Nava Raipur, Chandigarh, Ranchi, Vijayawada, Mysuru, and Jabalpur, Gurugram, which is expected to have a population of one to two million, came in at number eight. The cities were rated according to a set of criteria, with Coimbatore coming out on top and Jabalpur coming in last, including the push for active and shared mobility, seamless mobility, vision zero, mobility for all, affordable mobility, efficient and reliable mobility, clean mobility, future mobility, and investment in the city. The report states that 81% of two-wheelers, 36% of bicycles, 5% of three- wheelers, and 34% of four-wheelers are used by Gurugram residents for all travel, which can be broken down into 42% for work, 15% for education, 20% for shopping, and 19% for recreation. According to the report, 3% of inhabitants spend between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 on travel each month, while 50% of households spend less than Rs 1,000. Overall, the report showed that public transit is used by 83% of city residents, of whom 39.17% are women.
