JSCL introduces bicycle-sharing system for sustainable mobility

An official told the media that Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) undertook several initiatives under Smart City Projects and has launched a public bicycle-sharing system to boost eco-friendly mobility.
He said it would allow the users to rent bicycles from designated automatic docking stations and deposit them at another docking station close to the destination.
He added that it would be first-of-its-king in Jammu and Kashmir, which would be available to all the citizens at a nominal rent.
JDCL has established 60 automatic docking stations in J&K, and each has ten parking slots and lock bicycles.
These 60 docking stations are located in prominent locations in the city, and another 60 are in progress. Some of the locations are Jammu Bus Stand, Indira Chowk, Government Medical College, Super Speciality Hospital, Parade Chowk, Jammu Airport and Ragunath Temple.
An official said that the user could rent a bicycle by downloading and registering in the mobile application, Yaana Bikes, with the mobile number. The app is available for both Android and iOS.
He added that the minimum membership is available for Rs 50 for five rides of 30 minutes each per day and the maximum amount is Rs 1,500 for 1,500 rides 20 30 minutes each per year.
CEO of JSCL, Avny Lavasa, said that a total of 720 mechanical bikes, 80 electric bikes, 120 docking stations, a mobile application, bicycle redistribution vehicle are the elements of the project.
She added that this system would help the citizens to maintain good health and reduce environmental pollution.
