A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Sri Balaji University, Pune
(SBUP), and the Pimpri-Chinchwad Smart City (PCSCL). Through a coordinated effort, this strategic
alliance aims to foster innovation and advance sustainable development in the area.
In order to promote best practises and fresh concepts in the development of smart cities, SBUP and
PCSCL will engage in knowledge sharing and exchange activities. This will comprise, among other
things, seminars, conferences, and symposiums.
It will develop PCMC Smart Sarathi, a project of Pimpri Chinchwad Smart City Corporation Ltd. in
cooperation with Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), into a sustainable two-way
platform for citizen interaction. SBUP will work together to plan cooperative initiatives involving
citizen engagement in this area.
It will create and implement action research initiatives that are in line with the objective of the smart
city, SBUP will work with PCSCL. The alliance will also prioritise research in smart city technologies to
make sure that students are prepared for the workplace and have access to the most recent
information.
It will further collaborate closely with the government in order to develop and put into action
solutions for a range of urban concerns, such as waste management, public safety, and traffic
congestion. SBUP and PCSCL will collaborate to deliver workshops and training programmes for
college students, professors, and business professionals. Building capacity and improving skills in IoT,
data analytics, and cybersecurity will be the main areas of attention.
Joint projects and internships: In order to give students hands-on experience and exposure to real-
world issues in the smart city domain, SBUP and PCSCL will work together on joint projects and
internships. Students will be better prepared for the workforce and the gap between academia and
industry will be closed as a result.
鈥淲e are delighted to partner with PCSCL in this endeavour. This collaboration will enable us to
collaborate with government and provide platform to our students and faculty members to work
closely with this project, understand the practical problems and contribute towards sustainable
solutions. We look forward to working closely with PCSCL and contributing to the development of
the region,鈥 said Prof B. Paramanandhan, Pro-Chancellor SBUP & President SBS.
