Delhivery, India's largest fully integrated logistics service provider, today announced the expansion of its Chandigarh Gateway Hub. The facility, spread across 2.35 lakh sq ft will accelerate the region鈥檚 economic growth and create thousands of direct and indirect work opportunities. It will also empower thousands of businesses in the region, enabling them with access to nationwide markets through improved inventory storage and order fulfillment capabilities.
"Chandigarh and its surrounding region remain a core market for us. This expansion directly addresses the needs of local businesses, enabling them to deliver products faster to customers nationwide. Beyond facilitating commerce, the expansion will drive growth in supporting sectors like packaging, transportation, and local last-mile logistics, creating jobs within the community. As we approach the festive season, this facility will elevate customer experience by enabling fast and precise services,鈥 said Dingtang Tikhak, Senior Vice President, Regional Hub Operations, Delhivery.
With the new infrastructure, Delhivery now offers 30% more storage capacity to meet the requirements of the region鈥檚 needs and incorporates automation to handle shipment volumes with efficiency. This includes a Hub Conveyor Solution with a 4,000 throughput per hour capacity that helps sort both incoming and outgoing shipments. The hub also includes a Cross Belt Sorter (CBS) with a 12,000 throughput per hour capacity for rapid and precise shipment processing. Together, these technologies reduce turnaround time and increase the overall efficiency of the supply chain and can be valuable during peak demand periods like the upcoming festive season.
Delhivery鈥檚 expansion in Chandigarh is also a step forward in empowering local entrepreneurs and businesses. With the layout offering 3,000+ bin locations and the ability to hold more than 46,000 inventory bags, businesses in the region can prepare themselves for the festive season and store goods locally and ship them nationwide with ease, expanding their reach and improving delivery time.
Delhivery's commitment to environmental responsibility has always been in focus in its operations. The facility features 350KW rooftop solar panels that can reduce energy consumption and aims to reduce reliance on conventional energy sources and lower the facility's carbon footprint. A 1,000L wastewater storage and reuse system has also been installed that allows for the conservation of water by utilizing it for cleaning purposes within the hub, reducing reliance on fresh water sources. The transparent fiber roofing has been installed to allow natural light, cutting down the need for artificial lighting during the day and further reducing energy needs.
The expanded Chandigarh hub is part of Delhivery鈥檚 broader northern India network covering Punjab, Haryana, Jammu, and Himachal Pradesh, which includes a network of over 20 sorting centers and 360+ delivery stations. Supported by a growing ecosystem of franchise partners, the infrastructure helps thousands of businesses鈥攅specially MSMEs鈥攁ccess reliable and scalable logistics services to reach customers in every corner of the country.
