Bids Invited for 120 km Narmada River Cruise in Madhya Pradesh

The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department has invited bids for operating a 120 km cruise expedition along the Narmada River, connecting Ekatma Dham (Statue of Oneness) in Omkareshwar, Madhya Pradesh, with the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat. This ambitious project aims to promote water tourism and offer a unique experience for travelers.

The proposed cruise route will feature four river terminals, with two located at Kukshi and Sakarja in Madhya Pradesh鈥檚 Alirajpur district, and two at Hanfeshwar and Mokhadi in Gujarat. A portion of the journey will also include road travel to enhance the expedition.

The project is part of Madhya Pradesh鈥檚 broader strategy to develop water tourism by 2025. The state has identified 22 water bodies, including lakes, rivers, and reservoirs, for activities such as boating, fishing, jet skiing, and other water-based adventures. Currently, 14 boat clubs are managed by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (MPTDC), with new facilities like the Sarsi Island boat club recently added.

Plans are also underway to develop Gambhir Dam into a weekend getaway, featuring a boat club and water adventure activities. The cruise expedition is expected to draw tourists to the region, boosting local economies and enhancing the tourism potential of both Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
