Grundfos India, along with its distribution partner Siddharth Electricals, has provided self-contained mobile pumping stations and dewatering pumps to the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority, Greater Chennai Corporation, Chennai Smart City Limited, and residential societies across the city.
From November 10 to 14, the Grundfos India Mobile Pumping Station and dewatering pumps were in operation, assisting in the dewatering of approximately 50 lakh litres.
The company informed that this had helped residents in affected areas such as Chennai MMDA Colony, Adyar, and Thiruvanmiyur.
George Rajkumar, country president, Grundfos India, said that they can already see the growing effects of climate change in Chennai, where floods occur regularly. They can use dewatering solutions to address such flooding right away. Grundfos India collaborated with local authorities to dewater a few areas throughout the city. While this was a band-aid solution to the immediate problem, we urge the authorities to consider long-term, sustainable, and efficient flood control solutions.
Lightweight and portable, high-efficiency mobile pumping stations can be used in a variety of environments, including low-lying catchment areas, drainage pits, and waterlogged facilities. Mobile pumping solutions that are simple to operate and install can be effectively deployed by disaster management teams.
Grundfos also manufactures electric motors for pumps as well as separate merchandising motors. Grundfos designs and sells electronics for pumps and other system controls. More than 16 million pump units, circulator pumps (UP), submersible pumps (SP), and centrifugal pumps (CR) are produced annually.
