Odisha Approves Rs 1.08 Billion for Anandapur Barrage Project

The Odisha Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has approved Rs 1.08 Bn for the Anandapur Barrage Project in Keonjhar district. The decision was among six major proposals cleared across five departments.

Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja explained that the irrigation project under the Water Resources Department aims to benefit 60,000 hectares in Keonjhar and Balasore districts. The present proposal focuses on creating irrigation potential for 2,221 hectares under the Baitarani Left Bank Canal and Baitarani Right Bank Canal systems.

An underground pipeline network will serve a total of 3,450 hectares of culturable command area. The project is targeted for completion within 18 months.

The cabinet also amended the Odisha Children鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 Welfare Service Rules, 1989. Now, anganwadi workers seeking promotion as supervisors must possess a graduate degree, instead of the earlier Class 10 qualification. This applies to fresh appointments only.

Further, the government approved restructuring of the Odisha Subordinate Welfare Service and Odisha Welfare Service cadres by creating 24 new posts.

Additionally, the cabinet sanctioned Rs 23.98 Bn for the 108 Emergency Medical Ambulance Service over five years and approved two Excise Department proposals regarding recruitment and fee exemptions.
