NHAI Installs Speed Reducers Near Vani Vihar in Bhubaneswar

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has installed speed reducers on the service lanes of NH-16 near the main entrance of Utkal University in Bhubaneswar, which has brought significant relief to both commuters and pedestrians. These speed reducers had been previously placed as a road safety measure but were damaged over time due to a lack of regular repair and maintenance. Consequently, commuters often found it hazardous to use the service lane near the Vani Vihar campus.

In addition to installing the speed reducers, the NHAI is planning to implement further traffic calming measures on the highway service lane near Rasulgarh Square.

Experts have expressed that road safety measures are essential on the NH-16 service lanes at these two critical locations. They noted that these portions of the service lane are particularly vulnerable due to frequent pedestrian and motorist movement, instances of wrong-side driving, speeding, and other factors, which increase the risk of accidents.
