Diehl Defence CEO Helmut Rauch and Reliance Group鈥檚 Founder Chairman Anil D. Ambani have held discussions to advance their ongoing strategic partnership focused on Guided and Terminally Guided Munitions (TGM), under a cooperation agreement originally signed in 2019.
This collaboration underscores Diehl Defence鈥檚 long-term commitment to the Indian market and its support for the Indian Government鈥檚 Make in India initiative. The partnership鈥檚 current emphasis is on the urgent supply of the Vulcano 155mm Precision Guided Munition system to the Indian Armed Forces.
Simultaneously, the 鈥淰ulcano 155mm System under Make in India-II鈥� initiative is being progressed, with Reliance Defence serving as the prime contractor and Diehl Defence as the strategic partner. The project is set to achieve over 50 per cent indigenous content, significantly contributing to India鈥檚 defence manufacturing capability.

This partnership will be further reinforced by Reliance鈥檚 ongoing investment in a greenfield manufacturing facility at Watad Industrial Area in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. Once operational, the plant will have an annual capacity to produce up to 200,000 artillery shells, 10,000 tonnes of explosives, and 2,000 tonnes of propellant, contributing significantly to India鈥檚 self-reliance in defence production.
