2 cement companies join BSL for slag procurement

The slag that is generated during the process of producing steel at Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), which is a part of the Steel Authority of India, is currently experiencing significant demand. This demand primarily comes from the cement industry. This industry has shown a keen interest in obtaining slag from BSL.

The by-product of iron production in a blast furnace, known as blast-furnace (BF) slag, is a crucial resource for the cement sector. Two well-known names in the cement business, namely Ultra Tech Cement and ACC, have established a lasting agreement with BSL to acquire BF slag from them.

Dalmia Cement has been an existing customer of BSL for purchasing BF slag. According to sources, the annual sales of slag from BSL amount to Rs 1.5 billion.
