ACC Ltd declares the launch of 1.6 mtpa grinding unit in UP

Cement maker ACC Ltd on Tuesday declared the launch of a 1.6 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) grinding unit (GU) at Tikaria in Uttar Pradesh.

The additional capacity will include 1.6 mtpa (million tonnes per annum) of cement to the current capacity of 2.31 mtpa, taking the total capacity at Tikaria to 3.91 mtpa, the Holcim India group firm told the media.

The new plant will produce environment-friendly cement products with low carbon emissions.

ACC MD and CEO Sridhar Balakrishnan told the media that ACC's strong belief and resilience in these challenging times allowed the team to commission the additional capacity at Tikaria GU. Meticulous planning and collaborative approach of the Tikaria team has been the driving force in setting a new benchmark by ACC in these unusual times.

With cement demand projected to grow in India, development capital expenditure (capex) projects are being launched to improve clinker and cement capacities across the nation.

As declared earlier, the firm is progressing well to expand its capacity, i.e, 2.7 mt of clinker and 4.8 mtpa of cement by 2024.
