Odisha govt invites tender for 11 more mining blocks

The Odisha government has issued a notice inviting tender (NIT) for the online auction of 11 more mining blocks, seven of which are virgin.
Seven iron ore blocks, two iron ore and manganese blocks, one iron ore and dolomite block, and one bauxite block have all received notices from the Directorate of Mines.
Nadidih (Bico), Netrabandha Pahar (West), Dholtapahar, Purheibahal, Chandiposhi, Jumka Pathriposhi, and Gandhalpada are the seven iron ore blocks.
Nadidih (Feegrade) and Teherai are two iron ore and manganese blocks that have been hammered. The mineral block of Kasia, which contains both iron ore and dolomite, has also been put up for auction. The government has put up for auction the Karlapat bauxite mineral block and virgin block.
The tender documents can be purchased until 19 August, and the deadline for submitting a bid is 24 August. Each of the 11 blocks has a tender fee of Rs 5 lakh.
As a result, the government has issued a request for financial bids only in digital format, as well as technical bids in both digital and physical format.
Source said the state will auction more blocks in the next few months. In the first phase, the notification has been issued for auction of 11 blocks, and in the second phase, as many as four limestone blocks and a graphite block will be auctioned. Approval has already been taken from the state government for the second phase.
Mining industry contributes largely to the state's revenue and the state government has earned more than Rs 9,100 crore in the first quarter of FY22.
