Union govt supports aviation growth: Pralhad Joshi

Pralhad Joshi mentioned that while the average growth rate of other countries was about 3 per cent, India's growth rate was around 7.5 per cent, indicating that the economy was the fastest growing in the world. He added that India would jump to the third-largest economy in the world from its present fifth position in the next three years. Therefore, he explained, the BJP government at the Centre had been focusing on developing infrastructure.

Recalling the history of Hubballi airport, Joshi mentioned that during the tenure of former chief minister S R Bommai, the airstrip had been developed in the city. He further noted that during Atal Bihari Vajpayee's tenure as prime minister, Union minister late H Ananth Kumar had managed to upgrade the airport with a terminal building.

He explained that in 2017, during the Modi government's tenure, the existing terminal building had been constructed. He added that another terminal, which would be four times bigger than the existing one, would be developed in the next two years.

During the occasion, Hubballi-Dharwad West MLA Arvind Bellad remarked that Joshi had written a new definition for the development of twin cities. He emphasized that it was their responsibility to re-elect Joshi for another term for the further development of the twin cities.

Hubballi-Dharwad Mayor Veena Bharadwad, MLAs Mahesh Tenginkai and M R Patil, along with officials, were present. Later, Hubballi-Dharwad East MLA Prasad Abbayya visited the venue and congratulated Joshi for initiating the Hubballi Airport developmental works.
