AMC to establish EV stations on PP model

The civic body of Ahmedabad will soon invite private players to establish electric vehicle charging stations in the city, which will run on the PPP model. The fine-tuning is being executed in the contract documents and tenders shall be floated soon.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is aiming to set up 300 charging stations on the PPP model. However, according to the budget proposal for FY 2022-23, the civic body will begin with 25 to 30 stations.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation plans to offer land to the private players and standard equipment with manpower would be from the investor.

A senior AMC official said that the fine-tuning of the PPP contract document is being executed with a revenue-sharing model. Provisions such as providing land at a token rate of Rs 1 per sq m per month along with exemption from town planning and other development costs will finally be examined by the AMC. A policy with regard to the land cabling, equipment, and transmission infrastructure will also be given with the tender document.

The official added that the cost per unit is also being decided. Delhi has recently announced it to be Rs 2 per unit.

The AMC will also map the Electric Vehicle charging stations on their GIS map and the list would also be uploaded on the AMC website or app which will be updated regularly.
