Bhoruka to foray into gas-based power generation

Bhoruka Power Corporation (BPCL), an independent power producer, is foraying into the gas-based power segment with its maiden project in north Karnataka. It is planning to set up a 300 MW gas-based power plant at Chikkodi in Belgaum at an investment of Rs 1,200 crore. The company would be sourcing gas from the Dabhol-Bidadi gas pipeline being laid by the Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL). Land has been identified and the company has entered into a consent agreement with farmers for buying 100 acre at Chikkodi. This would be the first gas-based power project by the company. It currently generates 112 MW from 15 mini hydro sta-tions and three wind power plants.
