Adani Green Energy (AGEL), the green energy arm of the Adani Group, announced today that it has successfully operationalised 551 MW solar capacity in Khavda, Gujarat, by providing power to the national grid. The milestone was achieved by AGEL within a 12-month period from the commencement of work on the Khavda Renewable Energy (RE) park. The initial phase involved the development of essential infrastructure such as roads and connectivity, along with the establishment of a self-sustaining social ecosystem. AGEL also managed to convert the challenging and barren terrain of the Rann of Kutch into a habitable environment for its workforce, which comprises 8,000 individuals. AGEL has ambitious plans for the Khavda RE park, aiming to develop 30 GW of renewable energy capacity. The company anticipates that this planned capacity will be operationalized within the next five years. Once completed, the Khavda RE park is set to become the largest renewable energy installation globally, capable of powering 16.1 million homes annually, according to the company's statement. Gautam Adani, the Chairman of the Adani Group, expressed pride in AGEL's efforts, stating, Adani Green Energy is creating one of the world?s most extensive renewable energy ecosystems for solar and wind. Adani emphasised that through innovative projects like the Khavda RE plant, AGEL continues to establish higher global benchmarks, reshaping the standards for planning and executing giga-scale renewable energy projects worldwide. Adani views this milestone as validation of the Adani Group's commitment and leading role in propelling India's clean energy transition toward its ambitious targets of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and carbon neutrality. The region, blessed with optimal wind and solar resources, is deemed ideal for large-scale RE development. AGEL conducted thorough studies and implemented various innovative solutions to expedite plant development, simultaneously contributing to the establishment of an indigenous and sustainable supply chain.
