The company stated that they had quoted Rs 5.1 million to secure the ten-month contract. BPCL had released the tender for the project back in February. The company expressed their intention to utilize the solar project to power three of its refineries: 8 MW for Mumbai Refinery, 22 MW for Bina Refinery, and 16 MW for Kochi Refinery. It was mentioned that Ahasolar would be tasked with overseeing the project from concept to commissioning within the agreed schedule, ensuring that the quality of procurement items and construction workmanship aligned with established engineering practices, standards, and codes, as well as managing project risk. They were also required to develop and finalise all engineering and tender documents, technical specifications, and the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract terms. Additionally, they were responsible for managing the technical and financial evaluation of EPC bids received by BPCL. Ahasolar was to plan and supervise the project execution and commissioning activities and provide post-commissioning support until the project was stabilised. In August 2022, BPCL had invited bids for the hiring of a contractor to establish a 14 MW grid-connected solar power project on a turnkey basis at its Bina Refinery in Madhya Pradesh. In November of the same year, the company had also issued a tender to procure consultancy services for the establishment of 6.9 MW of floating solar power projects in the rainwater harvesting pond and shore tank farm in Kochi, Kerala. The consultant would be tasked with assessing two floating solar power projects under the tender. The first one was slated to be for approximately 3.2 MW capacity in a rainwater harvesting pond inside Kochi Refinery, while another 3.7 MW floating solar project was planned for commissioning inside the Kochi Refinery shore tank farm.
