Ahmedabad civic authority to charge Rs 70 lakh for town planning schemes

The civic body would charge you Rs 70 lakh if you urge it to reconsider a preliminary or approved town planning proposal in which your site has been included.

After the municipal commissioner issued a circular recently amending the ten-year-old price of Rs 40 lakh, this eye-watering charge went into force on August 1. The update occurs at a time when the civic body is short on funds.

The town planning department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) established the "varied charge" for a TP Scheme at Rs 40 lakh in March 2012, mostly to fend off concerns.

There are procedures from the time a planned TP scheme is announced until the scheme is approved whenever the AMC implements a new Town Planning scheme in a newly acquired land.
