Ather Energy partners with Foxconn arm for sourcing EV components

Ather Energy, an electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has partnered with Foxconn subsidiary, Bharat FIH to source various components for its electric vehicles (EVs).

Bharat FIH will be managing the whole supply chain and logistics for these components, which include printed circuit board assemblies, peripheral controlling units, and drive control modules. Besides these products that it manufactures in-house, Bharat FIH also has an agreement with a supplier to manufacture electronic grade lead-acid batteries for the company's electric vehicle projects.

Earlier, Sanmina Corporation used to supply these components.

Ather Energy chief executive officer, Tarun Mehta said that they are working to strengthen their supply chain to meet the rising demand for their scooters.

He added that they are delighted to partner with Bharat FIH to offer us the supply chain capability, capacity, and process expertise to cater to their volumes as well as projections.

Mehta said that the partnership reflects how many large auto component manufacturers want to take advantage of opportunities in the EV industry. Lack of interest among larger suppliers has hindered EV manufacturers, but now things are improving because supply is picking up.

In February, Ather sold 2,042 scooters, a rise of 140% year-on-year (YoY).
