Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor to Boost IMT Manesar

Haryana is set to enhance regional rail connectivity with the construction of the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC), spanning approximately 121 kilometres and linking key industrial and urban centres, including the Industrial Model Township (IMT) Manesar. This orbital rail link will serve as a catalyst for economic activity and dramatically improve travel times in the National Capital Region (NCR).

This new corridor will connect Palwal–Manesar–Rewari–Sohna–Kharkhoda–Palwal, creating a seamless rail loop that links the Delhi–Mumbai and Delhi–Ahmedabad freight corridors. By integrating these routes, the HORC will relieve congestion on existing lines and provide enhanced connectivity for passengers and freight alike.

IMT Manesar, a key industrial zone housing prominent automobile and manufacturing facilities, is expected to be among the primary beneficiaries. The rail link will significantly reduce last-mile transit issues for commuters and logistics, encouraging expansion and investment within the township and surrounding regions.

Furthermore, the corridor will improve access to emerging industrial hubs, technology parks, and urban centres—benefiting Commuter movement and economic integration. It is also expected to reduce road traffic, lower commute times, promote green mobility and contribute to regional decongestion.

The project is designed with a dual-purpose approach, catering to both freight and passenger movement, and is expected to feature modern stations with integrated amenities and intermodal connectivity options. It will complement existing highways and expressways, accelerating broader development plans for Haryana’s industrial belt and neighbouring Delhi.

By enhancing linkages between Manesar, Rewari, Sohna, Kharkhoda, and Palwal, the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor is positioned as a transformative infrastructure project poised to elevate economic prospects and urban sustainability in the region.
