BHEL commissions 100-MW floating solar photovoltaic plant

A 100-MW floating solar photovoltaic plant at NTPC Ramagundam in Telangana was commissioned by Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL). This plant is installed at natural reservoirs with the aim of conserving and preserving natural resources. This installation has been aligned with the government’s “Make in India� initiative as all the major components have an indigenous background.

Within 10 months, BHEL has successfully installed three floating solar projects � 25 MW at NTPC Simhadri, 22 MW at NTPC Kayamkulam, and 100 MW at NTPC Ramagundam.

Plants with a total capacity of 152 MW have been installed on a variety of water bodies, including natural reservoirs, man-made reservoirs, and saline back-water kayals. This plant, commissioned by the country's leading EPC player in the floating solar segment, features innovative engineering that ensures the aquatic ecosystem is preserved.
