BHEL installs solar EV charging station at Karnal in Haryana

Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL), a government-owned engineering and manufacturing company, has announced installing a solar-powered electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Karnal at Haryana.

The company press release revealed that the EV charging station at Karna Lake Resort is located in the middle of the Delhi-Chandigarh highway and can deliver all types of electric cars available in the country.

According to the release, the Delhi-Chandigarh highway has become the country's first EV-friendly highway, with a network of solar-powered EV charging stations installed under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid) and Electric Vehicles(FAME) by the Ministry of Heavy Industries.

Individual grid-connected rooftop solar plants will supply green and clean energy to the charging stations at the EV stations.

The installation of similar EV chargers at regular intervals of 25-30 km on the highway will allay EV users' range anxiety and boost their confidence for inter-city travel, according to the release.
