Construction of world鈥檚 largest integrated RE storage kicks off

The world鈥檚 largest and first of its kind, single location, co-located renewable energy storage project has been slated to be set up by Greenko Group in Andhra Pradesh. The construction has taken off with the first concrete pour by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Chief Minister, Andra Pradesh.

The 5,230 MW renewable energy generation project with a pumped storage capacity of 10,800 MWh per day requiring about six hours per day of hydel power pumping and storage, is coming up by 2023, at an investment of $3 billion. This reportedly includes $1 billion investment in the storage capacity and $2 billion in setting up 3,000 MW of solar power generation, 550 MW of wind energy generation and 1,680 MW of hydel power generation capacity. Greenko believes the project will play a key role in helping India achieve energy security and enabling a global energy transition.
