Daimler India Business Autos Private Limited (DICV) told the media that it aims for 100% carbon-free operations at its manufacturing plant at Oragadam, Tamil Nadu, by 2025. It manufactures Bharat Benz vehicles and buses. It has set a goal of 100% paper-free organisation by 2023. CEO and Managing Director of DICV, Satyakam Arya, said that the company had achieved sustainable development in its domestic and international businesses. He added that some of the goals are 100% carbon neutrality in its operations by 2025, turning out to be a 100% paper-free organisation by 2023, with enhanced vitality and self-reliance, with increased attention to office range and tradition. Under the sustainability plans, the company uses 85% of its vitality from renewable sources. The company has already harnessed solar photovoltaic energy for its manufacturing facility in Oragadam and laid the foundation for an extra capability of a 1.3 MW solar power plant alongside its world-class check covering 430 acres facility. Currently, the solar power plant has a capacity of 3.3 MW. It has already achieved 100% water recycling capacity and does not depend on other external sources of water for manufacturing. The company has invested over Rs 9,500 crore in its Oragadam plant near Chennai. It is an indigenous research and development (R&D) centre.
