Over 500 residential buildings with more than 25 flats each that are currently under construction must have electric vehicle charging stations, according to the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC). A structure with 100 apartments ought to have four EV charging stations. Previously, installing EV charging stations in buildings was optional. The NMC's town planning division, which oversees the city's approval of building plans, has mandated that EV charging stations be included in new construction. Sanjay Agrawal, Executive Engineer of the town planning department, said that the building completion certificates will be issued only after setting up the charging stations. He further added that at present, around 500 building projects, with over 25 flats each, are under construction in the city. The NMC has recently framed its policy for procuring electric and CNG vehicles for various purposes. The new policy has come into effect from the current financial year. Ravi Mahajan, president of the CREDAI Nashik chapter lauded the Nashik Municipal Corporation for the move. He added that the idea was initiated by CREDAI Nashik and that EVs will no doubt be the future.
