As per a statement given by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), India has permitted 45 solar energy parks having a total capacity of 37 GW under the solar park scheme as a part of its green energy push. Developing solar parks is a part of the government鈥檚 playbook, with the wind and solar production in India reaching an all-time high of 43.1 GW on July 27. India has also touched the 100 GW milestone of established renewable energy capacity. The statement said that last week the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) organised a webinar on the Introduction of new modes in the solar park scheme as a part of AzadiKaAmritMahotsav. Electricity demand in India has been increasing. The peak electricity demand in the country reached an all-time high of 200.57 GW on July 7, in a reflection of a revival of economic activity. Additionally, solar and wind production reached an all-time high of 43.1 GW on July 27, as against the previous high of 41.1 GW on June 11. MNRE Advisor highlighted that solar parks can be built with all types of Renewable Energy. India is driving the biggest clean energy programme of the world to attain 175 GW of renewable capacity, holding 100GW of solar energy and 60 GW of wind energy by 2022. The statement said that the Webinar observed active participation of around 300 people, which comprise representatives from CPSUs, State Government Departments, State nodal agencies and the public at large.
