India, Denmark to continue renewable energy partnership

On Thursday, in a meeting, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), RK Singh, met Dan Jrgensen, Danish Ministry for Climate, Energy and Utilities, where both agreed on further engaging with renewable power especially offshore wind and green hydrogen power.
In the meeting between India and Denmark ministers, MNRE of State, Bhagwanth Khuba, Secretary Indu Shekhar Chaturvedi, and other senior officers were also present.
Danish Minister Dan Jrgensen was accompanied by a delegation of MNRE officials.
R K Singh has told the Danish minister that the energy transition towards green energy is a crucial part of India's policy.
He also said that PM Narendra Modi had announced a 450 GW renewable energy capacity target by 2030. He further said that currently, the country's renewable energy portfolio is 146 GW.
India is further planning to make Ladakh, Andaman and Nicobar Island and Lakshadweep island green energy, including transportation.
As a part of the Green Strategic Partnership, two ministries have collaborated and launched the Centre of Excellence (CoE) on Offshore Wind. Initially, the CoE will focus on offshore wind energy.
The centre will work in four groups, including planning, financial framework, supply chain, standards, and testing.
The centre will grow its vision to include international governments and players, gaining experience and best practices on offshore wind, and become an international centre for offshore wind and renewable energy.
Both the ministries agreed to cooperate in renewable energy, especially offshore wind energy.
Both the countries have signed an agreement on Strategic Sector Cooperation in renewable energy with a focus on offshore wind energy.
Dan Jrgensen has also invited Singh to look at Denmark's work in offshore wind projects.
