Jakson Green Secures 400 MW Solar Power Deal with NHPC

Jakson Green, a leading player in India's renewable energy landscape, announced a significant achievement on Wednesday with the signing of a 400 MW solar power agreement with NHPC Ltd. This marks Jakson Green's first Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NHPC, underscoring its rapid growth as an Independent Power Producer (IPP) with a burgeoning portfolio.

"We are thrilled to embark on this agreement with NHPC, the first of many more to come. This 400 MW PPA, our largest to date, with NHPC is a monumental achievement for Jakson Green," said Kannan Krishnan, Joint Managing Director of Jakson Green Pvt Ltd.

The new solar project, slated to be located in Rajasthan and integrated into the central grid, is expected to generate clean energy equivalent to powering approximately four lakh households annually. Moreover, it will contribute significantly to reducing nearly 752,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions per year, while also creating substantial job opportunities during its construction and operational phases.

In a competitive bidding process conducted last year by NHPC for nationwide projects connected to the Central Transmission Utility (CTU), Jakson Green secured the 400 MW capacity at a favorable tariff of Rs 2.53 per unit. The project is scheduled to be commissioned within 24 months from the signing of the PPA. NHPC will purchase the power for 25 years, earmarked for sale to distribution companies (discoms).

The PPA signing ceremony was attended by key figures including Onkar Yadav, General Manager of NHPC, Kannan Krishnan of Jakson Green, and M K Gupta, Executive Director of NHPC, among other senior dignitaries.

This landmark agreement further solidifies Jakson Green's position in the renewable energy sector, adding to its successful PPAs earlier this year with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RUVNL). With this latest addition, Jakson Green's IPP portfolio now stands at an impressive 1 GW, reflecting its commitment to driving India's clean energy transition forward.
