Jindal Stainless, the country's largest stainless steel manufacturer, took different steps to reduce 1.4 lakh tonnes (LT) of carbon emissions in the previous fiscal year, according to its Managing Director Abhyuday Jindal. According to Bhattacherjee, JSL is India's first stainless steel manufacturer to establish a Green Hydrogen Plant to produce stainless steel. JSL recently struck an agreement with RenNew Power to establish a utility-scale captive renewable energy plant in Jajpur as part of its carbon reduction strategy. Using a combination of solar and wind power generation technologies, this project will generate 700 million units of sustainable energy per year. Jindal Stainless has also teamed with Hygenco India to construct a Green Hydrogen Plant in Hisar, which will drastically reduce CO2 emissions.
