Nel ASA wins 10 MW Order from Samsung C&T for Nuclear-Linked Hydrogen

Nel Hydrogen Electrolyser AS, a subsidiary of Nel ASA, announced a new purchase order from Samsung C&T Corporation Engineering & Construction Group for 10 MW of alkaline electrolyser equipment, valued at approximately EUR 5 million. This order marks a significant step for Samsung C&T鈥檚 pilot project for nuclear-connected (pink) hydrogen production.

Earlier this year, Nel secured its first contract with Samsung C&T for an off-grid solar-powered project. The new pilot plant will explore the commercial viability of producing hydrogen from surplus nuclear power, aiming to boost energy efficiency by harnessing excess energy during periods of oversupply.

H氓kon Volldal, President and CEO of Nel ASA, commented, 鈥淪amsung C&T has ambitious hydrogen initiatives, and we are honored to be chosen again to provide the electrolyser for this significant project.鈥

Samsung C&T, known for its expertise in engineering, procurement, and construction, has made substantial strides in the green hydrogen sector as part of its energy transition strategy. Byung Soo Lee, Head of Energy Solution Business Unit at Samsung C&T, stated, 鈥淭his is Korea鈥檚 first hydrogen production project utilising nuclear power. Nel's proven technology meets our reliability standards, and we look forward to continuing our partnership to expand opportunities in the clean hydrogen market.鈥

The order includes alkaline stacks and balance-of-stacks (BoS), with production taking place at Nel鈥檚 Her酶ya facility in Norway鈥攖he world鈥檚 first fully automated electrolyser production line.
