NHPC, GRIDCO Odisha Partner for 3 GW Projects in Odisha

NHPC, which is the largest hydropower development organisation in India, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GRIDCO Odisha, which is the Government of Odisha's utility company. The purpose of this MoU is to collaborate on the "Development of Pumped Storage Projects (PSPs) and Renewable Energy in the State of Odisha." According to the MoU, NHPC and GRIDCO Odisha will work together to establish Pumped Storage Projects with a minimum capacity of 2,000 MW, as well as Renewable Energy Projects consisting of Ground-Mounted Solar Projects or Floating Solar Projects with a minimum capacity of 1,000 MW in the state of Odisha.

The MoU was signed by Rajat Gupta, the Executive Director (Strategy Business Development and Consultancy) of NHPC, and Trilochan Panda, the Managing Director of GRIDCO. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Nikunja B Dhal, who is the Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Energy and also serves as the Chairperson of GRIDCO, and other senior officers from both NHPC and GRIDCO, including Biswajit Basu, the Director (Projects) of NHPC.
