North Western Railway seeks bids for 7 MW rooftop solar systems

The Jaipur Division of North Western Railway has announced a tender for the installation of 7,287 kW of grid-connected rooftop solar systems on residential buildings. The contract is valued at Rs 301.05 million. According to the announcement, bids must be submitted by August 2, 2024, and they will be opened on the same day.

Potential bidders are required to provide an earnest money deposit of Rs 1.65 million. The selected contractor will need to complete the installation within six months of receiving the work order.

The scope of work includes the supply, installation, and commissioning of the grid-connected rooftop solar system, featuring mono crystalline panels, inverters, MS hot-dipped galvanised structures, power conditioning units, junction boxes, AC and DC distribution boards, armoured power and control cables, remote data monitoring system, and net metering.

Prospective bidders must demonstrate experience with similar projects: either three projects each amounting to at least 30 per cent of the contract value, or two projects each amounting to at least 40 per cent of the contract value, or one project amounting to at least 60 per cent of the contract value in the past seven years. Similar projects refer to the supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of rooftop solar systems, both grid-connected and off-grid, with or without battery backup, for general use or street lighting.

Additionally, bidders must have a minimum average annual contractual turnover equal to V/N or V, whichever is lower. Here, V represents the value of the tender in billions of rupees, and N is the number of years specified for the completion of the tendered work. The annual contractual turnover is calculated based on the total payments received over the last three financial years on average.
