According to a power ministry release, NTPC Ltd has inked a supplementary joint venture agreement with Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) for the development of nuclear power projects. This additional joint venture agreement is a critical milestone for NTPC Ltd and NPCIL in collaborating and cooperating in the development of nuclear power projects that will assist the country in reaching its clean energy goals to achieve a net zero emission target by 2070. The JV company will initially develop two pressurised heavy-water reactor (PHWR) projects, Chutka Madhya Pradesh Atomic Power Project 2x700 MW and Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project 4x700 MW, which have been identified as fleet mode nuclear projects, according to a government release. Ujjwal Kanti Bhattacharya, director projects, NTPC Ltd, and Ranjay Sharan, director projects, NPCIL, inked the deal. RK Singh, minister of power, new and renewable energy, KN Vyas, secretary DAE & chairman Atomic Energy Commission, Alok Kumar, secretary, ministry of power, Gurdeep Singh, CMD NTPC, B C Pathak, CMD NPCIL, and senior officials from the Ministry of Power and Department of Atomic Energy were among those present at the signing ceremony. Meanwhile, NTPC announced the appointment of Shivam Srivastava as Director (Fuel). Ministry of Power approval of the Competent Authority for appointment of Shivam Srivastava, Chief General Manager (CGM), NTPC to the post of Director (Fuel), NTPC Ltd from the date of his assumption of charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier, according to a regulatory filing. Srivastava, a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Kamala Nehru Institute of Technology, Sultanpur (Avadh University) and a Post Graduate in Business Management from MDI Gurgaon, began his career at NTPC in 1988 as the 13th batch executive trainee. He has also completed a leadership management course at Harvard Business School in Boston, Massachusetts (USA). He has over 34 years of experience in fuel handling, fuel management, safety, plant operation and maintenance, and coal mining projects, according to the company.
