NTPC invites bids for 300 MW ISTS connected wind projects in India

The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has floated a tender for 300 MW of interstate transmission system (ISTS) connected wind power projects in India.

The work included designing, engineering, manufacturing, supplying, micro-siting, erection, testing, commissioning, and installing wind turbine generators, control panels, reactive power compensation devices, central monitoring, and wind monitoring.

The deadline to submit the bids is 19 October 2021, and the bids will be opened on the same date.

A single bidder should provide a minimum capacity of 50 MW, and the maximum project capacity should be 300 MW.

To participate in the bidding, the bidder, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor should have designed, commissioned, or supplied a grid-connected wind energy project with a cumulative installed capacity of 40 MW or more. The minimum installed capacity should be at least 10 MW or more in one location.

The bidder should also have executed industrial projects as a developer or EPC contractor in power, oil and gas, steel, fertilizers, petrochemicals, cement, or other industries worth Rs 3 billion or more in the past decade. The project should have been successfully operated for at least one year before the opening date.

The bidder should also have executed a minimum of one electrical substation of 132 kV or more, having equipment of 132 kV or above power transformer and voltage level circuit breakers, as a developer of EFC contractor. The power project should have successfully operated for a minimum of one year before the bid opening date.

To participate in the bidding procedure, the annual turnover of the bidder should be a minimum of Rs 3.15 billion in the last three fiscal years (FYs). The bidder should have a positive net worth on the last date of the preceding FY.

During the second quarter (Q2) of 2021, wind capacity installations declined by 62% quarter-over-quarter (QoQ). It recorded 239 MW installations in Q2 2021, as compared to 623 MW in the first quarter (Q1) of 2021. Installations increased by 76% year-over-year (YoY), as compared to 136 MW in Q2 2020.
