Ohmium Launches Rs.20 Bn Green Hydrogen Gigafactory in India

Ohmium International has inaugurated a new green hydrogen electrolyzer gigafactory near Bengaluru, marking a significant step in India's renewable energy landscape. The facility, valued at Rs.20 billion, aims to bolster India's green hydrogen production capabilities.

Located in Karnataka, the gigafactory is designed to manufacture advanced proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzers, crucial for producing green hydrogen. This development is aligned with India's goal of becoming a global leader in sustainable energy.

Ohmium's facility is expected to produce 2 GW of electrolyzers annually, significantly enhancing India's capacity to generate green hydrogen. This initiative supports the nation's target to achieve 5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen production by 2030, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

The factory's establishment is anticipated to create numerous job opportunities and stimulate economic growth in the region. It will also facilitate collaborations with research institutions to advance hydrogen technology and innovation.

Arne Ballantine, CEO of Ohmium International, emphasised the importance of this gigafactory in accelerating India's transition to a low-carbon economy. He highlighted the role of green hydrogen in achieving energy independence and combating climate change.

The launch of this facility reflects India's commitment to fostering a sustainable energy future. It positions the country as a key player in the global green hydrogen market, attracting investments and promoting clean energy solutions.

Ohmium's investment demonstrates the potential for green hydrogen to transform energy systems, offering a pathway to a cleaner and more sustainable world.
