Power Grid Wins Bids for Three Transmission Projects under TBCB

Power Grid Corporation of India has emerged as the successful bidder under Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) for three projects aimed at establishing an Inter-State Transmission System under the Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) model.

The first project involves the transmission system for power evacuation from the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Phase-V (Part-1: 4 GW) at the Sirohi/Nagaur complex. This includes the augmentation of transformation capacity at the under-construction Sirohi substation in Rajasthan. Additionally, the project encompasses the development of 765kV double circuit (D/C) transmission lines spanning across Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

The second project focuses on enhancing the transformation capacity at the Banaskantha (Raghanesda) Power Station (GIS) in Gujarat. This involves augmentation work at the existing facility to support the increasing energy transmission requirements in the region.

The third project pertains to the integration of the Kurnool-IV Renewable Energy Zone (Phase-I) with a capacity of 4.5 GW. This includes the establishment of a new 765/400/220kV Kurnool IV Pooling Substation along with the augmentation of transformation capacity at the existing C鈥檖eta Substation in Andhra Pradesh. Furthermore, the project comprises the development of 765kV and 400kV double circuit transmission lines traversing through Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

These projects are expected to strengthen India's power transmission network, enhance the evacuation of renewable energy, and contribute to the overall efficiency and stability of the national grid. The implementation of these transmission systems will play a crucial role in supporting the country's growing renewable energy capacity and ensuring reliable power distribution across multiple states.
