ReNew Power to Invest Rs 220 Bn in Andhra Pradesh Green Project

ReNew Power has announced its plan to invest Rs 220 billion in setting up India鈥檚 largest renewable energy complex in Andhra Pradesh, marking its return to the state after a five-year hiatus. The company revealed that the project would include a solar energy plant with a capacity of 1,800 megawatts, a 1,000 MW wind energy facility, and a two-gigawatt-hour battery energy storage system (BESS), which would be developed in two phases.

The first phase of the project is expected to comprise 587 MW of solar power, 250.8 MW of wind energy, and a 415 MWh BESS. The remaining capacity is planned for development in subsequent stages. Additionally, a 100-kilometre extra-high-voltage (EHV) transmission line will be constructed to facilitate the evacuation of clean energy.

The official launch of the project is scheduled for May 16 and is likely to be attended by Nara Lokesh, Minister for Information Technology, Electronics, Communications, and Human Resources Development in the Andhra Pradesh government. The state government had approved the investment under its new integrated clean energy policy, which was introduced in October 2024.

ReNew Power鈥檚 investment signals its renewed commitment to Andhra Pradesh鈥檚 clean energy sector, following a period of inactivity in the state over the past five years.
