Tata Power arm receives Letter of Award for 255-MW wind-solar hybrid

Tata Generation Renewable Energy, a Tata Power subsidiary, has announced that it has obtained a Letter of Award from Tata Power Delhi Distribution (DDL) for a 255 MW wind-solar hybrid power project in Karnataka.

According to the official press release, the project's power will be supplied to Tata Power-DDL, a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. "The letter indicates the current capacity bifurcation as 85 MW solar and 170 MW wind power, with the green-shoe option of additional capacity of 85 MW solar and 170 MW wind," the report continued.

The project will be completed within 24 months of the execution date of the PPA. The letter was won in an e-reverse auction.

"This partnership will also encourage other distribution companies in the country to increase the share of sustainable energy in their entire energy mix and contribute to the country's net zero emission target," said Ashish Khanna, CEO of Tata Power Renewable Energy.

With this win, Tata Power Renewable's total renewables capacity has reached 6,048 MW, with 3,884 MW installed and 2,164 MW in various phases of implementation, according to the press release.
