Tata Power subsidiary gets LoI for 250 MW solar plant in Maharashtra

On Monday, Tata Power told the media that its wholly-owned subsidiary TP Saurya has received a letter of intent (LoI) from the Maharashtra State Power Generation Corporation to build a 250 MW solar power plant.

According to the official press release, the plant will be located at the Dondaicha Solar Park in Maharashtra's Dhule District, and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company has agreed to purchase power generated by the plant.

Praveer Sinha, chief executive officer and managing director, Tata Power told the media that the project will increase the share of renewable energy in Maharashtra's overall energy mix.

The project was awarded through a tariff-based competitive bidding process followed by an e-reverse auction, and it will be operational within 15 months of the power purchase agreement's execution, according to the company.

Tata Power Limited, a subsidiary of the Tata Group, is an Indian electric utility company based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The company's main business is generating, transmitting, and distributing electricity. It has a total installed capacity of 10,577 MW, making it India's largest integrated power company.

Tata Power was ranked third in the 2017 Responsible Business Rankings developed by IIM Udaipur. Tata Power became the first Indian company to ship over 1 GW of solar modules in February 2017.

Tata Power Solar Systems Limited, formerly Tata BP Solar, is a solar energy services company based in India. Solar cells, solar modules, and other solar products are manufactured by the company, which also offers EPC services for solar power projects.
