TN and Centre Hold High-Level Talks to Boost State’s Energy Security

A high-level meeting between Vikram Dev Dutt, Secretary, Ministry of Coal, and N. Muruganandam, Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu, was held to strategise on enhancing Tamil Nadu’s energy security.

Key participants included senior leaders from NLC India Limited, Coal India Limited, and Tamil Nadu Power Generation Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO). Discussions focused on addressing the state’s projected power demand, ensuring lignite and coal supply, and preparing for peak summer and monsoon loads.

Critical issues such as land acquisition for NLCIL, promoting overburden-to-M-Sand at Neyveli mines, operationalising Neyveli airport, and forming a joint venture between TNGECL and NIRL were also discussed, with the Tamil Nadu government pledging support.

The collaborative approach is expected to strengthen Tamil Nadu’s energy infrastructure and tackle supply challenges effectively.
