Trial production of solar cells begins at Premier Energies plant in Hyd

Premier Energies, a solar PV Cells & Module manufacturing company, began a trial generation of solar cells at its E-City new plant in Hyderabad.

Premier Energies has started trial production of Polycrystalline Cells with 19.2% efficiency in its new factory where the company had invested Rs 483 crore, a statement said.

High-quality silicon wafers with 158.75 mm X 158.75 mm dimensions are used to produce these solar cells.

The ISO 9001/ ISO 14001 certified manufacturing facility utilises state-of-the-art production systems like SPC (Statistical Process Control) and TQC (Total Quality Control) quality control.

Accordingly, this launch will enhance the availability of the highest quality Made in India solar cells and contribute to the Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiatives of the Government.

The high-tech facility began as a greenfield project, located at E-City Hyderabad, spread across 25 acres.

The manufacturing unit is capable of creating Black Silicon MCCE textured multi-crystalline cells (which is the first of its kind in India) as well as Mono PERC cells with an efficiency of over 22.5%.

The formal inauguration of the factory where this product will be manufactured is expected in July.

Chiranjeev Saluja, Founder and Managing Director, Premier Energies, said that with the start of production, they have further strengthened their product portfolio that provides to a wide range of customers.

Premier Energies, headquartered in Greater Hyderabad Telangana, has a capacity of 1.25 GW module and 0.75GW cell. The company became the second-largest integrated manufacturer of solar cells and modules in India due to the increase in capacity.

Premier Energies has achieved 25 years of operations in 2020.
