The ConExpo 2023 booth for BOMAG will be located in Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention
Center to be held from March 14-18. During the ConExpo, BOMAG plans to exhibit more than 40
machines including an electric tandem-drum compactor and the autonomous Robomag 2 roller. This
will be the company's largest trade fair display to date. According to the company, BOMAG鈥檚 new
BW 100 AD e-5 tandem roller runs on two rechargeable batteries to power the two electric motors
that independently control vibration and travel while only one motor is needed for traveling, which
saves on battery life.
The electric roller is designed for night time work or construction sites in cities where noise and
emissions are an issue. Its 39.4-inch-wide drums rotate at 3,900/3,336 vibrations per minute with an
amplitude of 0.020 inches.
Modern combi-roller
The new BW 120 SLC-5 combination roller from BOMAG, which has 1.97-inch crab steering for
compacting around buildings and other structures, will be on display for diesel-engine ride-on
rollers. Moreover, it incorporates Intelligent Vibration Control, which alerts the operator when the
ideal level of compaction has been reached. The roller has four smooth rear tyres and a 47.2-inch
front vibratory steel drum.
Robomag 2
With its Robomag 2, BOMAG will present a glimpse into the future with its new and existing
machines. The company's BW 177 D single smooth-drum compactor serves as the foundation for the
idea roller. It has a compaction width of 66.5 inches and is outfitted with sensors, GPS, and LiDAR
(light detection and ranging) to direct its autonomous operation. In addition, according to BOMAG, it
incorporates a remote control for completing manual movement patterns and loading and unloading
the roller.
Compaction technology
Many of BOMAG's rollers will be on display at the show with the most recent compaction
technologies. BOMAP Connect is a digital network compaction control solution for monitoring all
compaction equipment on a jobsite. According to BOMAG, Asphalt Manager automatically matches
vibration direction to the travel direction of the roller and adjusts compaction force to the thickness
and temperature of the asphalt mat in order to prevent ripples in the mat.
Asphalt Pro is a cloud-based planning program that can do such things as calculate mix
requirements, communicate with the asphalt plant, determine the fastest route to the construction
site, and pass process changes to plant personnel and truck drivers.
