Timken India to start making CRBs, SRBs locally at Bharuch

Timken India plans to set up a new facility at Bharuch in Gujarat to manufacture spherical roller bearings (SRBs), cylindrical roller bearings (CRBs) and other components.

鈥淔inancing of the capital expenditure will be done through internal accruals. Commercial production is expected to start in January 2025. The manufacturing facility in Bharuch will mainly produce tapered roller bearings (TRBs) and its components; another new plant in the same factory will produce SRBs, CRBs and its components, increasing the company鈥檚 manufacturing capacity,鈥 the management said.

The SRBs and CRBs will be used in heavy-duty and medium-speed industrial applications such as wind turbines, gearboxes, and mining and construction equipment.

Timken is working at maximum capacity utilisation in India. The company currently does not manufacture SRBs and CRBs in the country, but imports them from Timken Group companies worldwide for sale in India.

鈥淭he company has launched a series of spin-off plans at the start of the new financial year, and the industrial market and customer demand are expected to remain strong. The government鈥檚 commitment to 鈥楢tmanirbhar Bharat鈥 and budget allocation for infrastructure will encourage bearing manufacturers to increase their local production capabilities manufacturing capacity,鈥 the company added.
