Andhra Pradesh CM prioritises infrastructure in housing colonies

The housing department has been instructed by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chief Minister, to make sure that by the time houses are built, all layouts will have access to electricity, a drainage system, and drinking water.

The Chief Minister reviewed the progress during a meeting on the Jagananna Colonies project at his Tadepalli camp office. He then gave the staff instructions to contact the beneficiaries and connect all of the houses with power once construction is complete.

Where house construction was being delayed by legal proceedings or other conflicts, he also gave the officials instructions to create alternate plans. He instructed them to assess the progress and address any problems with the housing scheme. He also instructed them to return to work as soon as possible at all colonies.

Officials previously notified the CM that house construction has been accelerated and that the government has already spent Rs 64.35 billion on house construction so far this fiscal year, excluding APTIDCO's cost.

They added that inspection teams regularly visit the layouts and check the progress and quality of building by carrying out four types of evaluation tests everywhere, as per the directions he gave in the previous review meeting. Officials visited four layouts and performed quality control checks alone in December. They added that plans are being made to set up testing labs in every layout.
