The Delhi government has announced that the construction of the Parliament would continue during the lockdown with those workers who are staying on-site. The building, being built adjacent to the existing Parliament House, is scheduled to be completed by November 2022. While the Delhi government banned construction during the lockdown from 19 April to 26 April, projects in which workers are residing on-site would be allowed. A central public works department official told the media that construction would continue to the extent possible. Earlier, the workers stayed at a camp set up at Sarai Kale Khan and commuting by Metro and buses to the site in Lutyens' Delhi. Tata Projects Ltd had secured the tender work for the construction of the new Parliament building in September last year. The company told the media that work is being continued and its workers are staying on the site, and permissions have been granted for construction. Apart from the Parliament building, the project to revamp Central Vista Avenue is underway, while the work on the new Secretariat buildings is yet to start. The Rajpath redevelopment project includes large scale stonework, construction of underpasses, underground amenities blocks and horticulture work. India's power corridor envisages a new triangular Parliament building, revamping the three-km-long Rajpath from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate, a common central secretariat, a new Vice President Enclave, and new prime minister residence and PMO.
