PMC notice to 200 building sites' developers

The city council sent notices to the owners of 200 sites asking them to explain why development should not be halted because they weren't using the water from sewage treatment plants.

Data show that there are 326 active construction projects in PMC areas, 128 of which are using sewage treatment plant (STP) water. The other 208 don't make use of it. As a result, they have received notices.

Considering a potential water deficit and a delayed monsoon, the decision to offer ST water was made to conserve potable water, according to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) administrator Vikram Kumar.

According to civic data, almost 240 tankers are used every day for construction projects. Only 70 of this transport STP-treated water.

A PMC representative claimed that a special mobile app had been created for the administration and transportation of tankers carrying purified water.
