Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana: Uttarakhand CM lauds PMAY scheme

On Wednesday, Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, told the media that the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) started for the welfare of the poor is fulfilling the dreams of millions to have a house of their own.

Dhami, handing over house possession documents to 10 people under the scheme at his camp office, said each beneficiary is getting a house at just Rs 6 lakh.

He said that each beneficiary of the scheme meant for the economically weaker section (EWS) has to give only Rs 3.50 lakh by themselves for a house since the Centre and the state government contribute their shares of Rs 1.50 lakh and Rs 1 lakh, respectively.

Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has constructed 240 houses at Tarla, Aamwala, and Sahastradhara Road under the scheme.

An official release said that the possession documents to the remaining beneficiaries are being handed over by the MDDA.

Each housing unit constructed for the EWS category of beneficiaries under the scheme has a super area of 505.04 sq ft and a carpet area of 237.56 sq ft.

Ranvir Singh Chauhan, Vice President, MDDA, told the media that the beneficiaries of the scheme have been chosen by the Dehradun Municipal Corporation through a draw of lots.
