Pune Sees Rs 42 Billion Stamp Duty from 11,930 Property Deals

Pune recorded 11,930 property registrations in May 2025, generating Rs 42.1 billion in stamp duty revenue, according to Knight Frank India. While this reflected a 2.9 per cent year-on-year drop in registrations and a 4.2 per cent dip in collections, year-to-date figures remain robust.
From January to May 2025, Pune registered over 99,300 properties, the highest in four years, marking a 16 per cent increase from the same period last year. Stamp duty collections during this period rose 20 per cent to Rs 368.7 billion.
Premium Segment Grows, but Mass Market Dominates
ÑDz©ÌåÓý¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³s priced above Rs 10 million rose to 19 per cent of transactions in May 2025, up from 14 per cent a year earlier. However, 81 per cent of sales still fell within the sub-Rs 10 million range, indicating broad-based demand.

The preference for spacious residences continued, with 32 per cent of registered homes exceeding 800 sq ft, compared to 31 per cent in May 2024. ÑDz©ÌåÓý¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³s in the 1,000â€�2,000 sq ft range also saw increased uptake, rising to 15 per cent of all transactions.
Central Pune Leads, West Expands
Central Pune—comprising Haveli Taluka, Pune Municipal Corporation, and PCMC—accounted for 75 per cent of transactions in May 2025. West Pune, which includes Mawal, and Mulshi.
