Tamil Nadu: TNUHDB unveils new housing development

In Irungalur, close to Manachanallur in Trichy, the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board (TNUHDB) has inaugurated a new residential complex for the economically weaker section (EWS) and low-income group (LIG).

M K Stalin, Chief Minister, Tamil Nadu, essentially declared the project open. M Pradeep Kumar, District Collector, planted native tree saplings while he was at the housing complex.

The TNUHDB's phase II residential complex comprises 240 dwelling units and cost Rs 210 billion to build. The complex has 10 blocks with 24 units each that were created with the urban poor in mind. Each living unit is 400 sq ft in size and includes a bedroom, hallway, kitchen, bathroom and toilet.

In the same location, TNUHDB has a phase I residential complex with 540 dwelling units that is completely occupied. Phase II was presented as an expansion project because there was a need.

Phase II unit distribution to beneficiaries has not yet been completed. To distribute applications to those who are interested, we have started a unique camp. The applicant must not own their own home and have an annual income of less than 3 lakhs.
