Tata Advanced Systems (TASL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons, has acquired a 7.4 lakh square feet land parcel in Karnataka’s Vemgal Industrial Area for Rs 290.34 million. The purchase, made at a rate of Rs 10.7 million per acre, was finalized through a lease-cum-sale agreement with the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB). The registration of the transaction took place on February 24, 2025, and included a stamp duty payment of Rs 10.5 million.
The land acquisition is part of TASL’s plan to set up a facility dedicated to aircraft manufacturing, including a final assembly line and a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) unit. This development aligns with the company's broader strategy to expand its footprint in Karnataka, leveraging the state's robust infrastructure, skilled manpower, and supportive industrial policies.
Located on the Kolar–Chikkaballapur Road (SH-96), Vemgal Industrial Area spans 666 acres and is situated approximately 10 kilometres from the Narasapura and Jakkasandra industrial hubs. The region is rapidly emerging as a significant centre for industrial development in Karnataka.
TASL has also committed to establishing a state-of-the-art MRO facility to support the Indian Air Force’s Lockheed Martin C-130J fleet. This investment is expected to boost technological capabilities, generate employment, and foster international collaboration within the aerospace sector. Karnataka’s proactive approach to industrial development continues to attract major aerospace and defence companies, reinforcing the state’s strategic role in strengthening India’s position in the global aerospace supply chain.
